5 of the Most Revealing & Insightful Marketing 'Zines of All Time

There are VERY few ezines that make me stop and reflect on what they teach me, laugh out loud, or that offer content so unusual, in-depth, and thought-provoking that I stay subscribed for more than two issues.

This is no crappy, half-arsed, thrown together list compiled solely to pull off some ploy for new subscribers. It took me *three full months* to finish, and boy was THAT a struggle. (You can see I still only came up with five.)

The following are ezines you absolutely *must* try for at least a few issues so you can see, firsthand, all the great stuff you've been missing.

Here goes it:

1. TalkBiz News, by Paul Myers

http://www.talkbiznews.com

This is probably my favorite ezine of all time. It's so good it's startling. Paul himself says that he has "more than the usual amount of opinions, and less than the usual good sense about expressing them," and...

Amen!

I wouldn't have it any other way.

Most ezines are a terrible bore. They usually fall short of even teaching you what you're joined for, much less giving you a belly laugh in the process. But Paul? Yeah right. This man is BRILLIANT.

All he knows truly amazes me, his wit is unparalleled, and the way he USES that wit is absolutely hilarious. TalkBiz News is priceless, and will teach you a thing or ten about building relationships to make more money online ... in each and every issue.

2. Web Business Today, by Damon Zahariades

http://WebBusinessToday.com

This is another truly hilarious read that I NEVER miss.

Damon always finds a way to relate his personal stories to online marketing. And even though you normally don't know exactly what he's getting at until the end of the issue, his side splitting writing style is more than enough to keep your eyes glued to the page until the end.

Because it's such a quick and interesting read, every time his 'zine comes in I stop what I'm doing and do just that:

READ.

It's nice and clean, too -- no fluff or filler. Just the main article or commentary, and an ad at the end.

Very insightful, informative, and fabulously entertaining.

3. Merle's Mission, by Merle

http://MerlesMission.com

Merle offers a down to earth newsletter that reports on the coolest free and low-cost resources that'll help your online business prosper, whether that should mean making more money, or saving a TON of time.

And this is *little-known* stuff -- not the same five resources that have been done to death in every other ezine's "resource section" for the past decade.

There's literally not been one issue I've read where I've not pulled *at least* three excellent resources out of it.

Merle's really on a mission. This thing is a gold mine.

If you're a Webmaster, promote a website, or are just looking for a whole lot of ways to make your e-biz run more efficiently, more enjoyably, or more profitably, join Merle's Mission.

4. Business Essentials, by Karon Thackston

http://www.ktamarketing.com/ezine.html

Woooo, boy! I can't even formulate the words to express just how amazingly informative this copywriting-related ezine is.

As Karon herself states, "Business Essentials skips the elementary (and often over-used) copywriting and marketing info, and sticks to those innovative marketing strategies that genuinely help to improve your return on investment."

Sho' you right.

I used to subscribe to this 'zine about three years ago, and unsubscribed because it offered way too much to read. There was just too much info that I knew I'd never make the time to use.

But now, Thackston has pared Business Essentials down to a lean, mean, profit-boosting machine, that's indisputably one of THE most interesting ezines I've read in a long time.

In order for me to think that an ezine is really interesting and entertaining, the author usually has to be a comedian.

Usually.

In this case, Karon doesn't try to tickle your funny bone. With the supreme quality of her content, she just doesn't have to.

What holds my interest in this ezine is the sheer amount of invigorating new ideas her copywriting instruction sparks. And the vivid, easy-to-understand, *real world examples* of how to apply critical sales copy concepts to actual sales copy models leave me swimming in fresh, new ideas of how to make MY site's copy sell MORE.

Just like her e-book, "The Step-By-Step Copywriting Course", this ezine gets me excited nearly every time I read it.

5. The Naked Truth... About Marketing!,
by Mark Ungvarsky
http://securemarketingsolutions.com/newsletter.html

This ezine is VERY opinionated -- a lot more than most -- which is refreshing, and keeps it from being dry. But (unlike me), Mark expresses his opinions subtly, and usually with a lot more tact.
;-)

It's normally a very revealing read that can make you smile, and really makes you think. I almost always "leave" The Naked Truth feeling nostalgic, and wanting to make a change in the way I run my business.

The author doesn't dabble in the same old upchucked content most other ezine publishers "jiffy pop" and try to pass for new. Mark's ezine is insightful and tackles serious issues in both life and in business online.

I usually think ezines that try to motivate me with mushy stories about life, relationships, and the like are an insufferable bore. I mean, come on ... I join ezines to learn how to make my business more profitable, not for the skinny on the latest episode of "As the World Turns."

But though Ungvarsky accessorizes heart-to-sleeve, and looks doggone good in the adornment, this 'zine is way too sincere and outspoken to be considered "mushy." It's knock-you-over-the-head "real", and so unconcealed it's, well ... "naked."

If you need to make some important changes to the way you look at your business -- and even if you think you don't -- The Naked Truth is where it's at. Get it.
