Current circulation and demographics

Right now (as of 9/30/03), I have 7,300+ subscribers. That number grows by about 10 to 25 per day.

Before you claim I'm off my rocker, let me elaborate...

You guys are a really responsive bunch!

I've been thinking I had 7,000 readers for the past several months (according to the list count), but when I transferred the list to a new mailing system in June, I got close to 3,000 bounces.

Yep ... *THREE THOUSAND BAD ADDRESSES* were on the list!

Ouch.

You can guess how ^%&$@% shocked (and appalled!) I was.

I used 1ShoppingCart for almost a year to mail my ezine, before switching to QuickPayPro. Obviously, to my horror, neither one had been removing the bounces.

About 10 subscribers or so would be deleted after each mailing ... but those were people who'd *unsubscribed*, evidently. The list just wasn't being cleaned.  >:-|

Anyway, finding this out DID suck, because I was so excited to be just about to break the 7,000 reader mark ... but it was also *amazing*.

I couldn't BELIEVE the response I'd been getting to mailings to "only" have, (at the time), 4,000 readers.

It was incredible.

For instance, for the mailing I did for Joe Kumar's book, I got 18 sales and close to 400 unique clicks (I screwed up and forgot to track the exact number of clickthroughs :-/).

That's a 6% clicks-to-sales conversion, and a 10% (wow!) response (clickthrough) rate. With only 4,000 subs!

Then, I got 328 unique clicks (392 raw) and 13 sales for the Top40Tools mailing I did on 6/20/03.

I wasn't anywhere near as adamant about the value of that product in that endorsement as I was about Joe's. But that mailing STILL got a 3.96% clicks-to-sales conversion, and a 8.2% response rate.

And all that with a sales letter that was, in my opinion, a not-so-great representation of the product.

SHM readers BUY, and buy FAST.


Note: I suggest you word your Solo Offer as your own personal endorsement and/or review of sorts, for the best response.

One reason these conversion and response rates are so high is because they like to hear about your *personal* experience with a product, AND some of the *SPECIFIC things* you liked best about it.

So try that. (See this one for an example ... though I'd put MORE of your personal experience in your Offer, if I were you.)

And don't fabricate it. They'll know.


All mailings must be relevant to computers, e-business, or marketing ONLY. Anything relevant to online business owners.

Our readers are focused, success-oriented e-marketers with only one thing on their minds -- making a living at this thing. They want to increase the income generated from their websites, affiliate sites, and e-biz in general, and learn to make a more regular profit each month.

Although everyone is interested in the above, a good amount are also interested in business opportunities, and/or ways to start their OWN businesses and websites.

Our (your) job is to help them at all of those things.
